Burnout is increasingly present in coaching conversations, although it may not always be the issue a client initially brings to coaching. It can sit beneath conversations about performance, confidence, career direction, boundaries, relationships, health and energy, making it important for coaches to understand what they may be encountering and how to respond within the boundaries of their professional role.

In this interactive session, Jayne Morris MCC, Executive Burnout Coach, founder of Balanceology and author of Burnout to Brilliance, will explore what coaches need to understand about burnout and why recognising the wider context surrounding it matters.

Drawing on her specialist work in burnout prevention and recovery, Jayne will explore:

what burnout is, how it can develop and some of the signs that may be easy to overlook

the wider personal, relational, organisational and systemic factors that can contribute to burnout

why burnout rarely exists in isolation and the importance of remaining curious about what may sit beneath the presenting issue, the role and boundaries of the coach when burnout emerges, including ethical considerations, signposting and referral, how our own experiences, patterns and responses to stress can influence the coaching relationship, the role of reflection and supervision in supporting coaches to work with greater awareness, confidence and professional integrity.

The session will combine teaching, reflection and discussion, creating opportunities for participants to consider how burnout may already be showing up within their own coaching practice.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of burnout, greater awareness of what to notice in coaching conversations, and increased confidence in responding with care, clarity and professional integrity.
