Why do adults sometimes want a do-over for the same photo? Why do people sometimes prefer to give a false impression – tidier room, fewer stains, better-behaved dog, more fun – when they post pictures of themselves online? Could that possibly be an art form in itself?
During this workshop, we will explore different ways to capture ourselves and others on film, by examining the works of artists who use photography in their art. We will learn to take creative photos, develop them further and create a story around the images.
This workshop is taught by Bára Bjarnadóttir, a specialist in the children's department at the Reykjavík City Library and visual artist. Bára has extensive experience working with children and young people through art workshops and youth work, where emphasis is often placed on experimentation, sincere conversation and creativity.
This two-day workshop is an extension of a shorter art workshop from Media Literacy Week, Look at Me!. For those who attended Look at Me!, it's good to know that one project from that workshop is repeated here, slightly altered and extended.
